Christopher Biggins: BBC execs ignored Jimmy Savile’s sex abuse because he made them so much cash.

The TV favourite, 67, starred in a string of shows for the corporation in the 1970s when Savile was one of the BBC’s biggest names.

In a shocking interview before he entered the house, Christopher said the Beeb let Savile “do what he wanted.”

At the time, Savile fronted by Top Of The Pops and Jim’ll Fix It which were both big earners for the BBC.

But he was using his status as a top TV star to abuse youngsters.

Christopher, inset, said: “We were amazed that Jimmy Savile got away with what he got away with.

“Because there were rumours and things you heard. But no-one seemed to do anything about it.

“You have to remember, he had two huge television series which brought the BBC in a lot of money. So he was a commodity.

“And sadly they all kowtowed to him and allowed him to do what he wanted to do.

It was all very unfortunate. He was a terrible man and not very nice in lots of ways.”

Christopher was a star of hits including Porridge and Poldark.
